John Andrick, Ph.D., Honored for Excellence in Cultural History Education
Dr. John Andrick is a respected member of the community at the University of Urbana-Champaign
URBANA, IL, October 20, 2016, John Andrick has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Noted for his expertise in cultural history, Dr. Andrick is an esteemed historian and retired educational association administrator. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and has held leadership roles at the university. He oversaw the library’s campus charitable fund, and managed its high-density shelving facility. In 2009, Dr. Andrick became a certified industrial truck operator through the Raymond Corporation.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Andrick was a public school teacher in Newton, Ill. He continues to speak on the subject of Victorian Cultural History and contribute articles to professional journals, such as History of Behavioral Sciences and History of Psychology. His papers have covered the topics of cultural history, social history, the history of ideas, digital humanities and archiving, and more.
Dr. Andrick is a veteran of the U.S. Army who has maintained affiliations with several professional organizations over the years. He is involved with the Illinois State Historical Society, the National Association of Victorian Studies, the American Studies Association, the Laborer’s International Union, the American Association for the History of Medicine, the Organization of American Historians, and the Modernist Studies Association. Dr. Andrick has also served as a clerk for the Urbana-Champaign Friends Meeting.
Dr. Andrick’s accomplishments have been recognized with various formal honors over the course of his career. In 1980, he received an Outstanding Teacher Award in Urbana, Ill. Dr. Andrick was also chosen to be featured in the 69th and 70th editions of Who’s Who in America. He continues to reside in Urbana with his wife of 26 years, Silda.
